  • How do the scopes of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol work?

    The Greenhouse Gas Protocol distinguishes greenhouse gas emissions into three categories in the value chain:

    Scope 1 for emissions you cause directly

    Scope 2 for emissions you cause by using energy that was generated elsewhere

    Scope 3 for all other indirect emissions in the value chain

  • What methodologies does SmartTrackers support?

    Our library consists of multiple methodologies and can be expanded with new ones easily. Don’t hesitate to let us know what you need.

    We see that most standards are based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Sometimes, different countries have implemented different interpretations of GHG. SmartTrackers takes this into account.

  • What emission factors does SmartTrackers use?

    SmartTrackers has an extensive library with the most common emission factors. This library can be expanded or adapted to your own situation easily.

    Emission factors sometimes change over time, for instance due to new insights or the adoption of new technologies. SmartTrackers offers transparency around this and corrects calculations, so that you always have reliable trendlines.

  • What data do I need to use SmartTrackers?

    We suggest to start with data that is easily available to you, on the most common ledgers (e.g. energy consumption, mobility) and to grow more detailed over time.

    It is better to start with less data than to start too late with complete data. We have an extensive library with templates, and you can also add gauges yourself.

    What data you need precisely, is dependent on your own ambitions and the requirements in the standards or regulations you want/need to comply with.

  • How does SmartTrackers determine the goals?

    You can determine the KPIs that you would like to manage, by yourself. SmartTrackers has an extensive library to source from, but the flexible set-up allows you to determine your own ambitions.

    SmartTrackers follows your organizational structure. At any desired level, it is possible to divide rights and roles, enter data, establish goals, monitor progress and consolidate centrally.

Technical questions

  • What source systems can I connect to?

    As a company in Visma, we are working on various technical links, in particular with financial accounting systems. Various other technical connections are possible too.

    .Csv imports are always possible, and oftentimes more cost-efficient than technical (API-)connections. This is because SmartTrackers is a management system that does not require highly detailed or high-frequency data. It is possible to import .csv files yourself and your helpdesk is available for additional assistance if required.
